The Sveshnikov System, 4. g3, is a restrained answer to the Pirc Defense. Instead of building an attack, White prepares to fianchetto the king's bishop on g2, where it reinforces the e4 pawn and the long diagonal. Black nearly always continues 4...Bg7, so both sides end up with a kingside fianchetto, while 4...c6 and 4...Bg4 are rare. The line is classified under ECO B07. Engines rate the position as roughly balanced, and online results are close to even.
