About the Schuehler Gambit

The Schuehler Gambit arises from the Outflank Variation, 1. b4 c6, after 2. Bb2 a5 3. b5 cxb5 4. e4. Black's 2...a5 challenges the b4-pawn. Rather than defend it, White advances and lets it be taken, then occupies the center with 4. e4. Black is a pawn up but has doubled b-pawns. White, left with an isolated a-pawn, looks for compensation in central control, quicker development and the b2-bishop's long diagonal.
