About the Benoni Gambit

This line reaches the Pterodactyl through the Sicilian order 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 g6 3. d4 Bg7, with White developing by 4. Nc3 before Black plays 4...Qa5. White then pushes 5. d5 instead of exchanging on c5. The advance gains space and shuts the long diagonal, as in the Eastern Benoni. The knight on c3 stays pinned by the queen, and the gambit label refers to the material Black can try to win against it.
