Queen's Gambit Accepted line in which White answers 6...a6 with 7. e4, offering central pawns for open lines and rapid development in a sharp position.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Russian Gambit
The Russian Gambit arises when White meets the Main Line 6...a6 of the Classical Defense with 7. e4. Instead of preparing for ...b5 with 7. Qe2 or preventing it with 7. a4, White builds a two-pawn center, leaving e4 undefended against the f6-knight and d4 exposed to ...cxd4, in return for open lines and quick piece play. It is sharper than those alternatives and usually comes about through the 3. e3 move order.
