Train it in TheoriaAbout the Flohr Variation
The Flohr Variation branches from the old main line, 7. Qe2 b5 8. Bb3. Here Black develops with 8...Nc6 rather than the usual 8...Bb7. After 9. Rd1 c4, Black gains queenside space with tempo. Then 10. Bc2 Nb4 11. Nc3 Nxc2 12. Qxc2 eliminates White's light-squared bishop and hands Black the bishop pair. White answers 12...Bb7 with the central break 13. d5. After 13...Qc7 the play turns on the half-open c- and d-files.
