Train it in TheoriaAbout the Novikov Gambit
The Novikov Gambit belongs to a family of gambit lines that follow 3...e5 4. Bxc4 exd4 5. Qb3 Qe7. In each of them White declines to recapture on d4 and keeps the queen and bishop aimed at f7. White does not choose 6. Nf3 (the Christensen Gambit), 6. a3 (the Billinger Gambit) or 6. Kf1 (the Korchnoi Gambit). Instead White plays 6. Nd2, bringing out the queen's knight and accepting a pawn deficit. Black's d4-pawn stays lodged in White's half of the board, and the c-, d- and e-files are half-open.
