Albin Countergambit line in which Black meets 5. Nbd2 with 5...f6, attacking e5 at once; a rare choice that the engine judges favorable for White.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Janowski Variation
The Janowski Variation is Black's answer 5...f6 to the Modern Line, 5. Nbd2, of the Albin Countergambit. Instead of continuing development, Black strikes immediately at the e5-pawn to break up White's extra central pawn and open lines for the pieces. White nearly always replies 6. exf6 and scores well afterward. The engine assesses the position as clearly better for White, and the line is seldom played.
