Albin Countergambit, Lasker Trap

The Lasker Trap arises when White meets the Albin Countergambit with the careless 4. e3, allowing 4...Bb4+ 5. Bd2 dxe3. The natural-looking 6. Bxb4?? fails to 6...exf2+ 7. Ke2 fxg1=N+, an unusually early underpromotion that leaves Black with the superior position. The most common reply, 6. fxe3, keeps the game roughly balanced by engine assessment, though Black scores well in practice. 6. Qa4+ is a less frequent alternative.
