Cambridge Springs Defense line in which White answers 8...O-O with 9. Bh4, moving the bishop off the fifth rank before ...dxc4 tactics can strike.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Argentine Variation
The Argentine Variation arises from the Bogoljubow Variation, 7. Nd2 Bb4 8. Qc2, when Black castles and White retreats with 9. Bh4. The point is prophylactic. Once ...dxc4 opens the fifth rank, the queen on a5 bears on g5, and the natural 9. Bd3 loses a piece to 9...dxc4. From h4 the bishop is out of that line yet still pins the f6-knight, and the d2-knight stays ready to recapture on c4.
