Train it in TheoriaAbout the Taimanov Gambit
The Taimanov Gambit is one of the two main ways of continuing the 7. d5 pawn sacrifice in the Classical Variation of the Queen's Indian Defense. After 7...exd5, White plays 8. Nd4, posting the knight in the center instead of on the rim as in the Polugaevsky Gambit, 8. Nh4. Black is a pawn up but has doubled d-pawns. White's compensation rests on the Bg2 bearing down on d5 and on the open central lines.
