Chandler Gambit

The Chandler Gambit arises when White meets 2...c5 with 3. g3 and, after 3...cxd4 4. Bg2, does not hurry to win back the pawn. For it White gets rapid kingside development and a fianchettoed bishop aimed down the long diagonal at d5, where Black is left with doubled d-pawns. 4...Nc6 is by far the most common reply, ahead of 4...Nf6 and 4...e5. Engines rate the position as roughly balanced, and White scores well in a line that is seldom played.
