An unsound, rarely played gambit in which White answers 1...d5 with 2. g4, offering a kingside pawn for little more than a half-open g-file.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Zurich Gambit
The Zurich Gambit, 2. g4 against 1...d5, offers the g-pawn at once, much as the Grob does with 1. g4 d5 2. Bg2. Black's most common and strongest reply is 2...Bxg4, taking a free pawn while White hopes for play on the half-open g-file after 3. Bg2. Declining with 2...Nc6 lets White cover the pawn with 3. h3, while 2...c5 adds pressure on d4. Engines give Black a clear advantage, and Black scores heavily on Lichess.
