Train it in TheoriaAbout the Petruccioli Attack
The Petruccioli Attack, 1. e4 d6 2. h4, is a flank thrust within the Rat Defense, seen mainly as a surprise weapon. The rook pawn claims kingside space and can later be aimed at a ...g6 fianchetto, but it contributes nothing to development or the center. The most common reply is 2...Nf6, hitting e4, while 2...e5 and 2...g6 are also played. Engines consider the position level, and in practice Black scores marginally better.
