An offbeat gambit in the Réti Opening in which Black answers 2. c4 by offering the b-pawn rather than defending, advancing or exchanging on d5.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Zilbermints Gambit
The Zilbermints Gambit, 1. Nf3 d5 2. c4 b5, is a rarely seen sideline of the Réti Opening. Black neither supports, advances nor captures with the d5-pawn. Instead, Black puts the b-pawn where the c4-pawn can take it. If White captures on b5, the c-pawn stops pressing on d5 and Black's central pawn is left secure. The cost is a pawn and a loosened queenside. The line sits outside mainstream theory.
