Train it in TheoriaAbout the Friess Attack
The Friess Attack replaces the routine 7. Bb3 with 7. Nxe5, leaving the a4-bishop en prise in order to strike at once in the center. It is rarely seen. The usual 7...Nxe5 8. dxe5 leads to 8...Nc5 9. Bb3 Nxb3 10. axb3 Bb7, or to 8...d5 9. Bb3, which transposes to the line 6. d4 b5 7. Bb3 d5 8. Nxe5. After 7...bxa4, White aims for Qe2 and Nxc6. Exchanges tend to follow, and the position is typically equal.
