A sharp branch of the Semi-Slav's Marshall Gambit in which Black gives back the c-pawn to capture on g2, ending a pawn up with an exposed queen.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Tolush Variation
The Tolush Variation is a greedy treatment of the Marshall Gambit's main line. After 8. Be2, Black plays 8...c5, letting White capture with 9. Bxc5, and then answers with 9...Qxg2, winning the g-pawn and finishing a pawn ahead. The queen attacks the h1-rook, and White's f- and h-pawns are left isolated. In return, Black's queen is far from home and the queenside remains undeveloped, so White plays for quick development along the half-open g-file and open d-file.
