About the Acton Extension

The Acton Extension arises from the Hyper-Accelerated Dragon after White plays 3. c4, a move that tightens control of d5 and aims for a Maróczy-style bind with Nc3 and d4. Instead of the natural 3...Bg7, Black places the bishop on h6. From there it bears on the c1-h6 diagonal rather than the long diagonal. Material is level, and White keeps the c4-e4 pawn pair against Black's lone c-pawn.
