Train it in TheoriaAbout the Zaitsev Defense
The Zaitsev Defense answers the pin 5. Bb5 in the Chekhover Variation by defending the c6-knight with the queen, 5...Qd7. The more usual interposition is 5...Bd7. With the queen on d7, the c8-bishop's route along the c8–h3 diagonal is blocked, so its development has to wait. White's queen remains centralized on d4, and the position keeps the half-open c- and d-files that are typical of the line.
