A Closed Sicilian line with 4. Bc4 in which Black answers 6. Nd2 with 6...Bg5, aiming to exchange the dark-squared bishop hemmed in by its own pawns.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Kharlov-Kramnik Line
The Kharlov-Kramnik Line arises after 4. Bc4 Be7 5. d3 d6 6. Nd2 Bg5. With pawns fixed on c5, d6 and e5, Black's dark-squared bishop has little scope behind its own chain. It therefore leaves e7 for g5, aiming to trade itself off rather than remain a passive defender. The pawn structure and the contest over d5 are unchanged, and the game stays closed and maneuvering, with material level.
