About the Soltis Variation

The Soltis Variation comes from the Main Line of the Yugoslav Attack after 10...Qa5 11. h4 Rfc8 12. Bb3. Black answers White's advancing h-pawn with 12...h5, which stops h4-h5 and makes it harder for White to open the h-file against the king on g8. White must then prepare g4 to pry the kingside open. Black keeps up the queenside counterplay, with the queen on a5 and the rook on c8 both aimed at c3.
