The move 2. a4 neither develops a piece nor contests d4, and Wikibooks lists it among White's poor second moves; the Myers Attack name is also given to 2. h4. Black can simply develop, most often with 2...Nc6, followed in popularity by 2...d6 and 2...e6. The engine judges the position roughly balanced, but Black scores clearly better in Lichess games.
