About the Dekker Gambit

The Dekker Gambit is 6. g4. This kingside pawn thrust offers the g-pawn to gain time and open lines, much like the g4 advance of the English Attack but without any preparation. Black can accept with 6...Bxg4, the most common reply, or with 6...Nxg4. Black can also ignore the pawn with 6...e5, which has scored especially well. The gambit is rarely seen. The engine gives Black a slight edge, and Black scores heavily in practice.
