A quiet positional system against the Najdorf in which White fianchettoes the king's bishop with 6. g3 to bolster control of d5 and deter ...b5.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Zagreb Variation
The Zagreb Variation, 6. g3, prepares Bg2, adding the fianchettoed bishop to White's grip on d5 and making Black wary of ...b5, which would open the long diagonal toward a8. The plan is positional rather than an attack. Black most often answers 6...e5, gaining central space, while 6...e6 and 6...g6 are the main alternatives. It is a sideline whose results stay close to even, and the engine judges the position roughly balanced.
