A gambit line of the Rossolimo Sicilian in which White meets the fianchetto with 6. d4, leaving the e4-pawn en prise to open the center quickly.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Lutikov Gambit
The Lutikov Gambit arises when White ignores the attack on e4 after 5...Nf6 and plays 6. d4 at once. The e4-pawn has no defender, so Black may win it, while White aims to open the center before Black has castled and to blunt the g7-bishop's influence on d4. It is sharper than the Totsky Attack, 6. Qa4, which keeps the central pawns intact and adds pressure on c6.
