Sicilian O'Kelly sideline in which White meets 2...a6 with 3. g3, a kingside fianchetto that avoids the Open Sicilian and keeps a slight edge.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Réti System
The Réti System answers the O'Kelly with 3. g3. White prepares a kingside fianchetto instead of opening the center with d4. As a result, Black's ...a6, which is meant to support an early ...e5 in the Open Sicilian, has less to aim at. It is an uncommon choice. The usual reply is 3...Nc6, and 3...b5 and 3...e6 are the main alternatives. The engine gives White a slight edge. White scores well in online games, though less so after 3...b5.
