Train it in TheoriaAbout the Larsen Defense
The Larsen Defense grows out of the Siberian setup in the accepted Smith-Morra Gambit. After 6...Qc7 7. Qe2 a6 8. O-O, Black develops the king's bishop with 8...Bd6. From d6 the bishop covers e5, discouraging the e4-e5 advance, and clears the way for kingside castling. It also blocks the d-pawn and stands on the half-open d-file, where White's rooks usually arrive. Black keeps the extra pawn, and White is to move.
