About the Fischer Variation

The Fischer Variation is a branch of the Sozin Attack reached after 6. Bc4 e6 7. Bb3 Be7 8. Be3 O-O 9. f4, with Black's knight already on c6. White leaves the king in the center for now and pushes the f-pawn at once. The aim is to follow with f5, hitting e6 and opening lines toward the kingside where Black has castled. Black relies on the d6–e6 pawn pair and the half-open c-file for queenside counterplay. The play is sharp and heavily analyzed.
