Train it in TheoriaAbout the Hergert Gambit
The Hergert Gambit arises in the Edge Variation after 3...d5 4. f3 Nf6 5. Nc3 Bf5 6. e4. White has driven the knight back from e4 with f3 and developed the queen's knight. White then advances the e-pawn even though Black's d5-pawn and f5-bishop both bear on e4. The point is to offer a pawn in return for open lines and quicker development. Black must decide whether to take on e4 or decline.
