Train it in TheoriaAbout the Gladbacher Gambit
The Gladbacher Gambit arises when White, after 1. Nc3 e5 2. b3 d5, advances 3. e4 and meets 3...dxe4 with 4. d3, offering a pawn rather than recapturing. Black stays a pawn up but is left with doubled e-pawns on e5 and e4, and both the d- and e-files are half-open. White's compensation rests on challenging the forward e4-pawn, opening lines, and developing quickly, with 2. b3 preparing a fianchetto of the queen's bishop toward the center.
