Train it in TheoriaAbout the Hergert Gambit
The Hergert Gambit arises after 1. Nc3 d6 2. f4 e5 3. fxe5, when Black declines the natural recapture 3...dxe5 and develops with 3...Nc6, leaving White a pawn up. The doubled e-pawns and half-open e- and f-files are the price White pays for the extra material. Black looks for quick development and pressure against the advanced e5-pawn. Because f2-f4 has loosened White's kingside, the play recalls From's Gambit with colors reversed.
