About the Melleby Gambit

The Melleby Gambit arises after 1. Nc3 d5 2. f4 d4 3. Ne4 c5, where Black answers White's Bird-style f-pawn advance by chasing the knight with 2...d4 and then supporting the advanced pawn with 3...c5. The knight on e4 now attacks the unprotected c5-pawn, so Black effectively offers it in return for space and a broad pawn front on c5 and d4. The line is a rare sideline of 1. Nc3.
