A rare gambit in the Van Geet Opening in which Black meets 2. f4 with 2...g5, offering a wing pawn to undermine White's f-pawn at once.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Warsteiner Gambit
The Warsteiner Gambit arises after 1. Nc3 d5 2. f4 g5. White's second move gives the game a Bird-like character, with the f-pawn controlling e5. Black answers by striking at that pawn straight away. If White captures on g5, Black has given up a pawn to deflect the f-pawn from the center and to open the g-file. The line is a deliberate sideline rather than established theory.
