About the Ekolu Variation

The Ekolu Variation is the line of the Keoni-Hiva Gambit in which Black answers 2. Nc3 with 2...d5. After 3. f4 exf4 4. Nf3, Black is a pawn up and holds pawns on d5 and f4, the f-pawns doubled. White's return is development and a half-open f-file, and the e3-pawn can later challenge the advanced f4-pawn. It sits alongside the Akahi (2...Nf6) and Alua (2...Nc6) Variations.
