Train it in TheoriaAbout the Mariotti Gambit
The Mariotti Gambit arises from the Paulsen Variation after 3...Bc5 4. Bg2 h5 5. Nf3 h4. Black develops the bishop to c5 and then advances the rook's pawn to h4, where it strikes at g3. The aim is to open the h-file against the fianchettoed king position before White has castled, and the h-pawn is offered for this purpose. The bishop on c5 also bears on f2.
