About the Pollock Gambit

The Pollock Gambit arises when Black, with the bishop on c5 and knights on f6 and c6, strikes at the center with 5...d5. After 6. exd5 White is a pawn up, but the extra pawn leaves doubled d-pawns, and the d- and e-files are half-open. Black's compensation lies in quick development and open lines, while White's bishop on g2 bears on the long diagonal.
