About the Ware Gambit

The Ware Gambit carries White's rook pawn all the way to a6, where it can be captured by the b-pawn or the queen's knight. White gives up the pawn in the hope of opening a file on the queenside for the a1-rook. Meanwhile, Black has used the time to set up pawns on d5, e5 and f5 against White's lone e3. The march begun with 2. a5 is regarded as dubious.
