About the Lisitsyn Gambit Deferred

The Lisitsyn Gambit Deferred is a Zukertort line against Black's Dutch-style 1...f5. White first plays 2. d3 to prepare e4, and only after 2...Nf6 advances 3. e4. Unlike the immediate 2. e4, the advance is backed by the d-pawn, so 3...fxe4 can be answered by a pawn recapture. That capture is Black's most frequent reply, and 3...d6 and 3...e6 also occur. The engine rates the position roughly balanced, and White scores well online.
