The Trifunovic Variation, 5...Bf5, develops the light-squared bishop at once instead of releasing the central tension with 5...dxe5. The result is a quieter game than the main line. White most often replies 6. Nf3, with 6. Nc3 the next most common choice. A less frequent option is 6. Bd3, which offers to exchange the bishop. Engines give White a slight edge, while results in online games are evenly split between the two sides.
