Train it in TheoriaAbout the Matsukevich Gambit
The Matsukevich Gambit arises from the 3. c4 move order of the Hunt Variation. The position after 4. c5 Nd5 is called the Lasker Attack in some sources. Play continues 5. Nc3 Nxc3 6. dxc3 d6, leaving White with doubled c-pawns but a half-open d-file and open lines for the pieces. Both the c5 and e5 pawns are attacked, and White defends neither. Instead, 7. Bg5 develops with tempo, offering material in exchange for activity.
