Alekhine Defense line in which White answers 4...Nb6 with 5. c5, chasing the knight again; it is regarded as dubious, and Black scores well.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Hunt Variation
The Hunt Variation, 5. c5, chases the b6-knight a second time instead of choosing the Four Pawns Attack or the Exchange Variation. The advanced pawn can simply be taken. The usual 5...dxc5 leaves White's center loosened, and engines give Black a clear advantage, which practical results reflect. 5...Nd5 and 5...N6d7 are less common. Several gambit lines filed under the name, such as the Lasker Simul and Mikenas Gambits, arise from the 3. c4 move order.
