About the Siberian Attack

The Siberian Attack puts the queen on d3 after Nc3 has already been played, so two White pieces back the e2-e4 push against Black's knight and d5 pawn, which both guard e4. The same position arises via 1. d4 d5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. Qd3. The usual reply is 3...Nc6, eyeing b4, ahead of 3...e6 and 3...g6. Engines prefer 3...c5 and rate Black slightly better, though practical results are close to even.
