Main line of the fully accepted Benko Gambit in which White trades light bishops on f1 and castles by hand with g3 and Kg2, keeping an extra pawn.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the King Walk Variation
In this line White accepts the bishop trade with 8. e4 Bxf1 9. Kxf1, giving up the right to castle, and then tucks the king away by hand with 10. g3 and 11. Kg2. The cost is time, which Black spends completing development and aiming the g7-bishop down the long diagonal while rooks and queen bear on White's a- and b-pawns along the open queenside files. The usual continuation is 11...Nbd7, with 11...Qb6 and 11...Na6 the main alternatives. Results are almost even in practice, although engines rate White's extra pawn as worth roughly a slight-to-clear edge.
