The Benoni-Staunton Gambit arises from the Old Benoni after 1. d4 c5 2. d5 f5. White answers Black's Dutch-style ...f5 with 3. e4, offering the e-pawn in the manner of the Staunton Gambit against the Dutch Defense. Black usually accepts with 3...fxe4, chosen in about four games out of five. 3...Nf6 and 3...d6 are rarer alternatives. Engines rate White's play highly enough to give a clear advantage, yet Lichess results in this seldom-played line are evenly split.
