Aggressive Modern Benoni line in which White plays 7. f4, building a three-pawn center to prepare e4-e5; it usually transposes to the Four Pawns Attack.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Pawn Storm Variation
The Pawn Storm Variation is the sharpest treatment of the King's Pawn Line of the Modern Benoni. Instead of the calmer 7. Nf3, White advances 7. f4, so that pawns on d5, e4 and f4 control the center and prepare e4-e5. That break would open the e-file, attack the d6-pawn and cut the g7-bishop's diagonal before Black's queenside majority starts to move. Black has to generate counterplay quickly, typically by pressuring e4 along the half-open e-file and preparing ...b5, while White's broad center leaves weakened squares behind it.
Almost every game continues 7...Bg7, and after 8. Nf3 O-O the position becomes the Four Pawns Attack, where most of the theory lies. Alternatives are rare: 7...a6 prepares queenside expansion before committing the bishop, and 7...Bg4 develops the light-squared bishop at once, though Black has scored poorly with it. Engines give White a slight edge, and White also scores somewhat better than Black in Lichess games, with very few draws.
