About the Zilbermints-Benoni Gambit

The Zilbermints-Benoni Gambit meets the Old Benoni, 1. d4 c5, with 2. b4, offering a wing pawn instead of advancing 2. d5 or defending d4. If Black captures on b4, the c-pawn no longer bears on d4, and White gets a free hand in the center along with time for development. The line is a rare surprise weapon. A related branch, the Tamarkin Countergambit, comes from 1. d4 c5 2. Nf3 cxd4 3. b4 e5.
