A dubious From's Gambit line in which Black plays 3...Nf6 instead of recapturing on d6, offering a second pawn for development and traps.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the Langheld Gambit
The Langheld Gambit, 3...Nf6, postpones the recapture on d6 in favor of development, so Black is temporarily two pawns down. White most often answers with 4. Nf3, and 4. dxc7, which grabs a third pawn, is almost as frequent. The line is considered dubious and full of traps. It is played mainly in blitz and bullet, and FM William Graif's advocacy has given it some recent popularity. The engine gives White a slight edge, yet Black scores well on Lichess.
