The Platz Gambit, 1. f4 e5 2. fxe5 Ne7, is a seldom-played branch of From's Gambit. Black develops the king's knight to e7 instead of hitting the e5-pawn at once with 2...d6, so lines toward the white king do not open immediately and the pawn deficit remains. White's most frequent reply is 3. Nf3, and 3. d4 has scored especially well. The engine considers White clearly better.
