About the Williams-Zilbermints Gambit

The Williams-Zilbermints Gambit is a branch of the Williams Gambit, 1. f4 d5 2. e4 dxe4 3. Nc3 Nf6, in which White plays 4. Nge2 rather than the trap-laden 4. Qe2. The knight can head for g3 to bear on e4, but White stays a pawn down, and the engine gives Black a large advantage. The most common reply, 4...Bg4, pins the knight to the queen and scores best for Black. 4...Nc6 and 4...Bf5 are the next most frequent choices. Overall Lichess results are nearly even.
