A rare C23 line of the Bishop's Opening in which White, already a pawn down after 3. b4 Bxb4, offers a second pawn with 4. f4 for an attack.
Train it in TheoriaAbout the McDonnell Double Gambit
The McDonnell Double Gambit follows the McDonnell Gambit's 3. b4 Bxb4 with 4. f4, offering the f-pawn on top of the b-pawn already given up. White does not prepare d4 with c3, as in the La Bourdonnais-Denker Gambit. Instead White strikes at e5 in King's Gambit fashion while Black's bishop sits on b4, far from the kingside. Already a pawn down, White has an isolated a-pawn and a half-open b-file. The line is rarely seen.
