Train it in TheoriaAbout the McDonnell Gambit
The McDonnell Gambit, also called the McDonnell Wing Gambit, arises after 2...Bc5 when White plays 3. b4, offering the b-pawn to deflect the bishop from c5 and gain time for central expansion, much as in the Evans Gambit but with the knight still on g1. Black usually accepts with 3...Bxb4; White then chooses between 4. c3, the La Bourdonnais-Denker Gambit, preparing d4, and 4. f4, the McDonnell Double Gambit, which offers a second pawn. Declining with 3...Bb6 is less common, and 3...Bxf2+ is also seen. The position is rare and the engine rates it as roughly balanced.
